The winners of the Paolo/Led Zeppelin ticket competition were lucky fans Vic and Chris, and on Monday night they attended what was undoubtedly the gig of the year at the 02 arena.
By all accounts it was a once in a lifetime experience, but you don't have to take our word for it - scroll down to read their gig review in full, complete with photos of the evening.
Vic and Chris' Gig Review
"Arriving at The O2 to find thousands of Zep fans with eager eyes was a great way to start what would be a night we'd never forget. The fever surrounding the venue was palpable and we heard accents from all over the world chatting about how much they were looking forward to the night ahead.
"Taking our places in the huge venue we quickly realised we had some of the best seats in the house with a perfect view of the mammoth stage just below the boxes packed with loads of celebs. Following on from the pot-pourri of classic rock acts that started the gig - including members of Foreigner, Bad Company, Yes, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer - our fave singer songwriter Paolo took to the stage backed by ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyman and his Rhythm Kings and launched straight into 'Mess Around' which had been written for Ray Charles by Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun (whose memorial show it was).
"Paolo looked so happy on stage blasting out the song with an amazing array of talent backing him up, however it's his version of 'Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)' that really gets the crowd going as Paolo's truly individual vocal style shines through and wows people all around us. Sadly there's only time for a couple of songs from Paolo before the stage is cleared for the mighty Zeppelin but it was a incredible sight to see him play in front of the huge crowd and capture everyone's attention. If any of the 20,000 people at The O2 hadn't heard of Paolo Nutini before - they certainly will have now!
"Everyone was suitably buzzing when Led Zeppelin walked on stage. There were a lot of people who hadn't seen them for 30 years but an equal number of us who were seeing them for the first time - something we never believed would happen. The array of hits coming from the stage was just incredible, with my favourite 'Black Dog' just 2 songs into the set. Jimmy Page's guitar filled the arena with sounds it was hard to believe came from just one man. The whole night was so special and they were on absolute top form. It's hard to believe they've ever sounded better. We're still buzzing and it was certainly one of the best shows we've ever seen.
"Thanks for the tickets Paulo - look forward to seeing you play again soon!"
Vic & Chris xx
